Can I use a Govt frame with a commander slide?

The frame should be modified to commander specs.
It may perform OK as is. But this is not ideal.

Okay I will get a commander frame then. First time build on a 1911 so I am going to have alot of questions. Thanks John

well, on the bright side...

the only things that are commander specific are the frame, slide, barrel, barrel bushing, and in some cases the hammer.

pics of your progress would be nice. i love seeing new guns being "born"
