I have an RIA 1911A1 that I want to ccw. I'm putting in a ambi safety, bobtail grip safety, and new hammer on it.
I need better sights and want to know if a gunsmith can take the slide and mill/cut out the A1 sights out so I can put novak sights on. Can this be done or fill I have to suck up the cost and get a stripped Caspian/sti slide? |

Gander Mtn did my Novak cuts for $200. I probably got taken on that deal, but they're the only place in town that'll do it.
ETA: They did a fine job, but they really pissed me off by not giving me an invoice with an estimated price when they took the slide. The previous gunsmith had quoted me $100. The new one wouldn't give me a quote before he started the work. Had to pay the $200 to get my slide back. |
