The "Disable a Kimber Schwartz Safety" thread got me thinking. What're quick, sure-fire ways of disabling the Series 80 FPS? Links & such would work wonderfully, if we don't want to have another rehashed thread on it. Thanks! |

I think Brownells sells one alone with a couple of other places. |

| Yes, there has to be something to fill the void left by trigger and safety plunger lever or sear can drift. I've always cut the two parts down to washers. Removing both levers. Have heard Pistolwretch say more than once that leaving the " thumb " on safety plunger lever can lead to it finding hole in slide where plunger was. |

BAD.
If you don't remove the original safety lever that is retained by the hammer pin, the "finger" which rises up and presses the firing pin lock can get caught in the hole were the firing pin lock was. This will tear up the lever and damage the slide and frame. To deactivate the Series 80 firing pin lock assembly, you have to remove BOTH of the activation levers from the frame and replace them with either the Brownell's filler plate, or cut the originals down to washer-like fillers. You also have to remove the firing pin lock plunger and spring from the slide, which leaves a hole in the bottom of the slide. |
