So are you going to spend that additional $1000 that 'every 1911 needs to be reliable' on hookers and blow, or what? |

Thanks for the comments guys! I like all my other 1911s and have never had problems with them but something about this one in particular is....I don't know, I can't explain it. It might have front serrations and a rail which many find to be horrific but they both look good to me. Even though its an 80 series I see no problems. I might take out the system in the future and install a TJ Customs plate. If I do I'm not worried about the lawyers and all that stuff. The only thing the 80 series does is to make it drop safe so in a defensive situation if done on purpose, the 80 series is irrelevant. I noticed also that the firing pin return spring is shorter than normal due to the 80 parts making a longer spring unnecessary also so that would need replacing as well. I did the same to my Taurus PT1911AR and no big deal. All in all nothing else is being changed for now though. |

I just bought one also shoots well ! I want to buy extra mags any suggestions I have some 8 round CMC. I thought about a couple low profile Wilson 8 rounders what yah think? Well I used the Elite and 47D mags with no problems and would suggest either for anyone looking for a quality 8rd 1911 mag. |

I'm happy with my CRG...now.
I haven't heard anyone else mention this but mine shot 6" low at 25 yds. I replaced the stock front sight with with a Wilson .160 tritium and it's gtg. The Colt's dovetail is cut closer to the muzzle and the Wilson sight had to be trimmed and profiled. The trigger was sloppy vertically and horizontally so I replaced it with a C&S solid adjustable. The ambi safety was really sloppy so I replaced it with a C&S low profile piece. TJ's plate and flat checkered msh completed the parts replacement for me. I may lighten the trigger pull after a few more rounds down the pipe. |

You guys buying them is making it hard for me to patiently wait on a carbon steel version. They are making a version that is black coated now, I just ordered one Defiantly post a range report and with what type of mags and ammo you use. I look forward to it since finding Rail Gun reports a far and few between. |

i personally own the 1070 xse stainless (no rail).
i had an older model, with the duckbill grip safety, so i ended up changing it to the wilson combat drop in colt safety (for the commander frame- its the right one, even for the 5" 1070.) also put on the wilson combat ambi, and wilson combat steel checkered msh. i topped it off with novak night sights, and i did a very mild carry bevel myself (very proud of it- not too difficult either, surprisingly.) -is the rail gun sharp enough to cut paper with out of the box? mine was -to the point i drew blood at the first range session! anyway- i like the new colts! id probably buy one with the rail next, and trick it out accordingly! |

You guys buying them is making it hard for me to patiently wait on a carbon steel version. Seem to remember,... someone bearing your avatar name ranting about Colt, health care, Obama, and UAW ? Or was it IAW ? Anyway, this person who obviously must have hacked his way to using your avatar, swore. At least, admonished anyone for buying a new Colt and ringing praise for..... Les Baer, was it ? Or Ed Brown ? Neither one being in Colt's price or quality class. Tried to post that tied your avatar to these post - election rants. It seems to have been buried or maybe some conspiracy that's released it's self from your avatar. I'm waiting for the black version too. |

Posted my range review for my Colt Rail Gun a few months back––I'm also extremely pleased with it. It's a fantastic shooter, and it has not yet malfunctioned on me after many hundreds of rounds––and the last ~270 or so of those without cleaning. I've never owned a pistol that didn't hiccup at least occasionally, and I'm tickled pink that the Colt has proven so dependable. While it's still not as scary accurate as my GP100, it's a damned fine shooter and more than capable of putting rapid hits on a man-sized target at ranges appropriate to a pistol.
I commend your choice of pistols, sir. |
