Traded my Glock 19 for a Springfield 1911 this morning.  Mil-Spec, lightly modded.

Got another trade for a Taurus 1911 this afternoon.

Springfield will likely be my new carry piece, Taurus will play backup, be fun at the range, and ride in my jeep.

It's all fabrication until we see some pics.

This is true. I learned long ago that its ok to let gun forums know if you picked up a firearm with no pictures as long as its not in your hands yet. If you own it 100% and its with you then you better post pictures at the same time you announce it.

What was done to the Mil-Spec? Good trade other than the Taurus, IMHO.

Pictures will be up later, possibly today.  Gotta try to get to the range today, and do a quick function test since my glock was my carry piece, and I will feel naked if I don't have one to carry soon.

Don't know 100% of the details, but I know it was refinished by NGA in their ceramic coating, and the slide/frame fit was tightened.  Also it has a 3.5# wilson trigger.  Looks like the MSH was also replaced.

As for the Taurus, I wouldn't have gotten that as my sole 1911, but it gives me a back up pistol that has the same manual of arms, can be tossed in the jeep without worrying too much about it.  Also I can use the Taurus as my range beater gun, and save the Springer for carry.  Also allows me to try some of the other features, and actually decide which ones I like.  If it proves reliable, it might see some use as a carry piece.  We will see.

That's why I got two.

I was thinking of doing a bit of a comparison between the two, but it wouldn't be very fair, since the springer has had some work done to it.

Had to make up for 7+ years of carrying plastic pistols.

Here's a quick shot so as to not anger the forum.    I'll post better shots as I get them later.

While these are my first 1911's, they aren't the first I have been around.  Shot several, and always shot well with them.  Hoping these are the same.

Not real thrilled with the Taurus, but part of that is because person I traded with couldn't find the mags he was supposed to bring, and one of the mags that he did include is actually broken.  [>://  Also, the pistol wasn't cleaned, and I doubt the round count that he told me.  Also, the finish is a bit beat up already, even for a Taurus.  Former owner put an idiot mark on it as well, and the grip screws were pretty loose.  Oh well, it's going to be a range beater anyways.

On the flip side, the Springer has just about the best finish I have seen on a pistol.  I don't know if I believe all the hype that NGA claims about their ceramic finish, and not needing oil to run it, but I must say they did a great job on the finish.  The uneven marks on the top of the slide are oil.  Might be a bit of evidence of a slight idiot mark, but it's hard to make out.   The sights aren't nearly as bad as I remembered Mil-Specs as having, at least as easy to pick up as the Glock.  Maybe better.

If the sights are equal to the Glocks, than the trigger is about 100x better.  It's got just a bit of take up, than no creep, and it breaks clean.  Absolutely amazing trigger.  Also the slide to frame fit is extremely tight, but at the same time, the action is buttery smooth.

I'll probably be a bit embarrassed to bring the Taurus along when I shoot with my step father, who has a Dan Wesson, there won't be any shame with the Springer.

Nice trade. I also picked up a Taurus as a "Truck" gun. I have to say it has been 100% with everything I feed it! I still like my Kimber's better, but the Taurus has been reliable and good to learn on (Totally stripping the pistol down and reassembling).
