Ok so I have reviewed a  bunch of threads and don't see a guide for the points of lubrication for a 1911.  I have been told to put some gun grease on certian parts and oil on others.

Is there a guide anywhere or does someone have some information.

I just bought a SA LW Champion Operator and want to make sure I have it running right.

This is what's worked for me for over 40 years. One drop on the end of the barrel, one drop on the barrel hood, one drop on the disconnector, one drop on each rail, and one drop each on the hammer & sear pins (from the outside....enough oil will migrate to the inside to get the job done.

I use gunzilla for cleaning and lubrication.  At this point the cleaning goes pretty fast because it keeps a lot of what needs to be cleaned off from actually sticking to the gun.  Once the gun is clean I put a small layer at friction points and call it a day.  Probably a little overkill but it doesn't gum up on the gun and since I carry the gun I prefer it to be run pretty wet.  Particularly in the heat of the summer.

If youre going to carry it grease on the rails and upper barrel lugs and around the bushing and slide stop. A drop of oil or two down through the disconnector and down the face of the hammer wear the hooks are at.(So it works its way down to the sear) .

Running a lot of rounds at the range I only use oil or CLP for lube. It cleans a lot easier and they run better "wet" versus greasy when the start getting filthy.
