Well I bought a Rock Island compact tactical and I'm in love with it. It's never had a hiccup and has become my EDC. My problem is the sights have to change to some 3 dot night sights, but I've read that the standard dovetails don't fit. My local pusher said he could cut the slide, but I'm guessing it would be easier to cut the sights. Anyone have any experience or advice?

Just to clarify, you have an RIA Tactical which has the typical Novak cut rear sight and you want to go to a night sight setup...right? Anything else I'm missing?
Your guns looks something like this: 
Cause if that is the case than any decent night sight will do like the 10-8 or something from Novak/Trijicon. |
