I went to a fun show last weekend with the intent to buy a 1911, either Kimber or Springfield. I decided I didn't like the finish on the Kimbers, reminds me of a telfon coated frying pan . Really nice guns, just wasn't for me.  So I was pretty much set on the "Loaded" model from Springfield, then this "TRP" beauty caught my eye.  At first I thought I was seeing things because I've never witnessed a TRP in person before, they are that rare around here. From what I'm told, guns shops receive and sell them in the same day pretty much.  While I was looking at it, some other guys were behind me staring it down like a hawk. So I had to buy it, yeah?  Damn right!!  What a great gun, it's accuracy is really impressive even with cheap practice ammo I put thru it yesterday.

Now, the only thing I have to complain about is the grips. While cool looking, yeah, they are too abrasive for my taste.  I'm definitely going to change the grips out on this baby.  Do you guys think the "Tru Ivory" grips would look good on her?  If I went with the ivory imitation grips, I would like to get some screws that are the "torched" color (I guess that's what its called).
Anybody know where I can pick up some screws like that?

Anyway, here are the pics... Enjoy!  Sorry for the cruddy cell phone quality...

Nice smoke pole. Don't pimp it ........ if you can't handle the grips that are on it get yourself something like the VZ 320 Blond Desert Canvas Grips.

Eh, maybe ivory grips would be a little pimpy. What do you guys think about these?... I really like them. They come in a slim version and are cut for the magwell.

my favorite grips are ones made by Larry Davidson.
If you find some you like you can have him smooth them for carry.
Nice pistol, have fun breaking it in!

Ivory on a painted tacticool gun like the TRP would go together like peanut butter and onions.

Stay with the synthetic grips like the VZs.

I do like the VZ 320 Grips a lot.  Does anybody know if there is a "slim" grip out there that is cut for a magwell and ambi safety.  I have smallish hands and would like a think grip.

AlumaGrips
Had a set custom made for my 1911 that are thin as hell, somewhat aggressively checked, and overall badass... and cut for a magwell... they were for a TRP.

I sent Larry an email earlier today. I was just asking if anyone has heard of all those options in one grip, since I don't see anything exactly like that on all the websites I looked at.

No reason to be an ass clown, man.

Not a problem... here are mine on both of my TRP's...

They're very light, very aggressive, and very thin.  I really liked them... as you can see, I opted for custom laser engraving on them and had the Springfield logo put on... Somewhere around 112 bucks.

Great gun!  I threw some VZ operator II's on mine.  There a bit more aggressive then the stock grips which feel way to thin compared to the FSC and MSH.

There's plenty of stupid on the internet... I just try to ignore it and keep moving.

I have a set of Larry's grips on my Operator now... I like 'em... my AlumaGrips are sitting in my safe without a pistol to go on... Need to rectify that.
