Anybody know the correct  WWII holster for a 1911 service pistol. Any ideas were to buy the holster and magazine pouch, reproductions are fine. Thanks for the help. I am trying to put together a canvas belt complete with canteen, bayonet, holster and pouches.

ETA: Apparently I lied... they seem to lack holsters now... but have just about anything else G.I. WWII you could think of.

The correct WWII holster is the Model 1916 Dismounted (Infantry) holster.
It was originally issued in a Russet Red-Brown color.  Later in the war it was issued in natural unfinished (pink) leather which could be darkened to a dark brown with "shoe dubbing".

The absolute best replica available is the one made by El Paso Saddlery as their "1940".  It's an exact replica right down the the stitching and brass and copper hardware and is as good if not better quality than the original USGI holsters.
I've heavily used an El Paso since the early 1970's and it's still in great shape.

If that's a little to expensive, Pacific Canvas & Leather make fair quality replicas in China.  They actually make the holsters that are sold by internet and catalog stores like Cabala's.  These are usable, but not exact replicas.

Hill Country Leather make a good replica.  Under another name, Hill County used to make USGI holsters during the Vietnam War.
Unfortunately, Hill Country seem to be using non-standard steel hardware instead of GI spec brass and copper.
