I was at a gun show this weekend. Notice a STI Spartan for $600. Nice and tight with a lot of nice features. Does any own this model that can make any advisement if this is a worth while investment but the price is somewhat low.

here's mine

changed to a GI guide rod and spring setup, put in an arched msh.

Have 400 rds through it, no hicuups and no cleaning. including some hp rounds.
Well had 3 due to reloads not being sized right, and one mag that failed to lock back on the final round.
I would buy it again in a heart beat. Very happy with it.

I like my Spartan.  I put in an arched MSH to get the gun to point more naturally for me.  The fiber optic sight is nice.  The gun runs great and hasn't caused any problems for me.  I would have bought a 1911 with some front strap checkering but I got the gun as a gift.

The downside is that the finish is a bit unique so it's hard to find parts like the MSH, extended mag release, safety, etc that are in the same finish.

Mine has been very accurate, shoots 200gr LSWC and standard round ball.

I have close to 1,000 rounds through mine and its still tight and accurate.

The only problem I have is the frame coating seems thin and is wearing through in spots already.  I use mine for action pistiol and it is showing holster wear already. I used skateboard tape for the front strap and that is the only thing I wish were an option - front strap checkering.

I would buy one again - best 1911 on the market for that price IMHO.

I noticed that on my Trojan as well, but it doesn't bother me.

The one thing that bothers me is that most of the wear is on that one side.

Well, you can have them spend a lot of time on fitting the gun, or a lot of time on the blueing. I guess you got the better end of the deal. The blueing on my wife's Trojan is coming off in places too, but it shoots great.

It's just an excuse to get a new finish.
