Recently, My Springfield has been destroying brass, a bite mark straight across the case mouth, making it useless to reload. Happens maybe twice in an 8 round mag
Any Idea on what the cause is? |

You may need to tweak your extractor, but I am not the person to be advising you on how to do that. I am sure someone else with more experience will chime in.
Here is a good page that I had bookmarked: http://www.m1911.org/technic2.htm |

High lighted in red are two words that stand out in your OP. Springfield and recently. Meaning you didn't have problem before, right ? So what could have changed ? Tension ? Tension in what ? Springfield extractors are notorious for not holding tension. Usually they become too loose. Are you still running stock recoil spring ? You didn't change it recently, did you ? There are many tutorials on extractor tension, previous poster linked a good link for you. |

does Springfield use series 70 or 80 extractors? 70. Just get a quality extractor (ed brown hardcore or Wilson combat bullet proof) and install it. SA extractors are only useful for pushing crap around on a workbench looking for something. Yeah, I replaced my sear spring with ED Brown Hardcore, and plan on doing the same with the extractor thanks |
| I've been shooting walmart .45 ammo for a while and never marked any of my brass, but last range trip I went and I shot a different kind and it marked almost all of them, then I shot some more walmart and it didn't mark any. Have you changed to a different ammo recently? |
