I am at a deadlock between the Nighthawk T3 and the Bill Wilson Carry Pistol. This will be for CCW of course. I am leaning toward the T3. I love the sights, magwell and 4.25" barrel. Really I am looking for any reasons not to buy the Nighthawk.

Next on my wish list as a matter of fact. |

That is one fine 1911 you have there. It is easy for me to decide on the T3. It is configured just as I would want it and looks amazing. Man, I am starting to drool. Thanks, I sure am pleased with it. Don't hesitate to ask Larry for anything special. He has been known to throw in "upgrades" for free to new customers. I got my whole setup at 10% off just for ordering at SHOT. Not sure exactly what the T3 comes with, I know upgrades like the crowned and beveled barrel, custom mag-well, and various other things are already inlcuded on the T3. But you can ask for extras like solid triggers, custom checkering, etc. I would also spring for the Diamond Black or their new Gen III coating over the Permakote, since its a carry gun for you. Also, I am not saying that the BW isn't a good gun, it would serve you well. I just prefer the fit an finish of the NH. |

Either will serve you well.
I personally chose Nighthawk and have been extremely please with my choice. I have an Enforcer, though it's not stock at all. If you order from NHC directly (or through George @ Gunslingers), you can customize it however you want, it is Nighthawk Custom, after all. My changes to my Enforcer include a solid Vickers/Yam trigger, removal of the ball cuts in favor of standard 1911 cuts on the slide, and a GI type safety instead of the extended ones. Trigger set to 4 lbs. I decided to keep the slide markings as I kind of like the NH hawk on the side. Since I've had it, I've switched the mainspring to a 21# spring instead of the stock 19#, which ups the trigger pull slightly to about 4.3#, but also greatly reduced the felt recoil with the squared firing pin stop NHC uses. It's a preference thing, but I like it. I've had a single failure at the range with my Enforcer and it was because I didn't properly seat my mag. |

Stainless is an excellent idea for a pistol set up this way, for carry close to the body.
I prefer the feel of the NH. The Heinie Straight Eight sights are better for me than Wilson's. The new Bill Wilson "carry" is set up like the T3, but has a longer grip. The T3 takes only officer sized mags, but then adds a magwell, which makes it practically as long as the Wilson which holds the 8 round mags. But as I said, the NH would still be my choice. When I handled both at a local shop (yes they had both, remarkably) I would have gone with the NH. |

One word....
HUNTER LOL, T3 is badass but 10mm scares the BigFoots!!! |
| I have a stainless T3 on order and just picked up a NHC Dominator (all hard chrome) on Friday. I ran around 200 rounds through the Dominator on Saturday and it was flawless...zero issues. The fit, finish and trigger are excellent. Looking forward to getting my T3 in the next month. |
| I am thinking it is kind of a draw..wilson has been around a LONG time, and in fact those guys at NH? Most came from wilson I believe, you can see it a little in some of the guns. They are both in Berryville AR as well I believe. I have always had excellent luck with wilson combat, and haven't dealt with NHC, YET!! You can't go wrong with eithr of these fine guns, hell get both!! |

Really I am looking for any reasons not to buy the Nighthawk. Their earlier gaudy rollmarks never appealed to my tastes, but what ensured that I'd never buy from them was their shitty treatment of another Arfcommer courtesy of an absurd policy they tried to enforce retroactively. To wit, they had the audacity to charge the guy over $200 for their time shooting the gun because they couldn't replicate the problem he complained about when sending the pistol in for warranty work. I don't know what pissed me off more, the fact they retroactively dishonor the conditions of a contract, or that they have the audacity to come up with such a bullshit policy. For the price the semi-custom manufacturers charge, the only expectation I find unreasonable on the part of the customer is fellatio from the receptionist. The only thing that makes the semi-custom worth the premium is the performance guarantee and the service (both to back that guarantee and for other matters). The day that came out was the day that the company went from second best in the business for customer service to the worst. Some may prefer others over a Wilson (my chief complaint is that they offer no 4.25" platforms), but nobody, NOBODY has better service. |

This time I will try and keep it civil. As I already said in a previous post, I like Wilson's as well. I just don't think they offer as good as a value, but that's just me I suppose. |

I just don't think they offer as good as a value, but that's just me I suppose. I don't think you are disagreeing with me. The issue at stake was not a particular poor customer service anecdote from one company, because, as you point out, there are likely 20 times that in satisfied anecdotes from other customers, as well as a few dissatisfied customers from other outfits. The issues I was raising were that Nighthawk did in fact implement that bullshit policy and that they retroactively applied that to a customer who bought a pistol with a full guarantee well before that change. Both of those were unacceptable business practices with respect to customer service in the industry. Now, it is quite possible that Nighthawk currently makes terrific pistols and has terriffic customer service these days. I have no interest in them as a customer and I haven't shot one, so I can't make such statements. I can only relate what I have known, which may have changed. An informed consumer may wish to doublecheck the policy, and a principled consumer may steer clear of the outfit just for the previous practices. That's really up to the consumer, though. |

Another question for the hive.... Bees carry 1911s ? ![]() You're not serious?
Just in case that wasn't sarcasm. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hive_mind Follow the "collective consciousness" link. ON TOPIC: I would get the T3 because I like the slightly longer barrel. That said both guns are very close in specs you really can't go wrong with either. |
