I took my new Springfield to the range for the first time this afternoon.

It felt great but every third or fourth round did not fire due to light strikes on the primer.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

I'd say replace some springs ,main spring firing pin spring.

What kind of ammo?
If the firing pin channel clean?
Is the hammer

Is the hammer making contact with rear of the slide properly?

On a brand-new, never before fired gun?

I was firing Federal FMJ ammo.

I believe the hammer and firing pin channel are clean but I haven't had a chance to strip the gun and check it yet.

It's been a long day and I'm pretty tired. I'll check that sometime tomorrow when I get a chance.

I would call Springfield.

They have a lifetime warranty and will send you a call tag out if they can't help you over the phone.

I will if there's not something obvious when I strip it down tomorrow.

I just thought I'd get some input here too though.

Springfield uses a Titanium firing pin to pass silly drop test standards.
Result is less energy transfered to the primer.
Should not be an issue but several ammo manufacturers are now
sourcing their primers from overseas sources.

Call Springfield first.

Or get a real firing pin and don't drop your pistol on the muzzle from 10ft.

Thanks, I'll try that!
