A friend of mine gave me a 1991 Compact(Officers size) frame. I then found a stainless Series 80 slide on Gunbroker.

I had originally intended to have a custom gun built with the parts. I then got to thinking, which is a dangerous thing for me.

I was going to buy a Fusion alloy Officers frame and build a lightweight gun. Bob said they were going to produce a run of Series 80 frames. That would give me a lightweight OACP, just not a true Colt.

I was then going to use the steel 1991 lower to build a 10mm CCO size pistol for fun and woods carry. I was also going to have a .40 S&W and .357 Sig barrel fitted to round it out.

Lately I have been thinking I should just build the thing as an all steel OACP. It won't be a factory gun, but it will be all Colt.

I already have a custom built CCO using Series 80 parts and a pre Series 80 LW Commander that I am going to have a light custom job done on it.

What do you guys think? I am definitely leaning towards the all steel build right now.

I'd do the all steel build.  You already have the frame and slide, and I find Officer's sized 1911s hard enough to hang onto as it is, without the additional tendency to jump out of your hand that an alloy frame will impart.

I stopped carrying my all steel officer (1991 Compact).  Never noticed a recoil difference between the steel and alloy frames, but my lower back notices if I have been carrying all day.

An all steel 10mm CCO sounds sweet though.

I decided to keep it all Colt and have a few mods done to it.
