Has anyone ever been told that they would not build them a custom firearm because they don't like the colors you have chosen? The reason I ask is I was told that they would not build my gun because I wanted to have the slide stainless and the frame black. Was told this is not traditional two-tone and therefore they will not build it. I am a little taken back by this and thought the purpose of a custom gun was just that, to be made to the customers specifications. I am buying two guns built to this specs. I am not complaining, but just want someone to explain the logic behind this (if there is one). Thanks

They may not do it because they do not want their name on the side of the pistol.  But I would not see Ed Brown having a problem with making you that pistol.

Or they do not want people to think you are shooting a Kimber CDP.

If Ed Brown told you NO called Les Baer, Wilson Combat, or Nighthawk
My best Wilson would have no problem making that for you.

or I guess you could order two pistols one black and one stainless and then mix and match. lol jk

When manufacturers get too demanding, it's time to move on to another one.

Not uncommon in the "semi" custom market... I have found Nighthawk to be the most flexible in building to "your" specs...

So they didnt want to build a ghey looking pistol.

Luckily theres probably someone that will do it. Call and ask Les Baer, I wonder what his response would be.

OP,

Just thought Id come back and share a story. I once had this good Winchester Model 70 action and a Douglas Premium barrel with a nice walnut blank. I took it all to my gunsmith and asked him to build be a nice blued sporter.

He took the barrel in the back and came out about 20 minutes later. Looked the action over and told me no. At that point in my life it was about the 7th or 8th rifle I had or should say would have had him build. He flat out refused the work.

Why does it have to be "ghey".  Is there something your not telling us...

It was a color scheme chosen since most are the other way around.  Why not be a little different then the rest of the pack?

I decided to see if they will just do it completely stainless and if I decide to change the frame color, then I will do it later.  Lets just see how that goes...

I find it odd that they would refuse work but maybe they are so busy that they can afford it.

Just an FYI, Springfield makes guns with black frames and stainless slides.  My wife's EMP is that way and a buddy just picked up a loaded model with the black alloy frame and stainless slide.

I've always supported Brown because they are local, but I've been hearing some batshit crazy talk lately. Wouldn't blame you for moving on. Customer service is something I expect on a $2-3k gun.
