Hey Gang. I'm excited to report that I just put in an order with Bob Serva at Fusion for a bobtailed commander in .40 S&W. I have 1911's in .45, and I'm going to try one in .40 because it's the only caliber I can reliably find at Walmart and other places.

My intention is to document the "build" here with photographs, ala Gaspain. Anyway, it will be a few weeks before the parts get here, in the mean time wish me luck!

Sounds like a nice build. Bob builds some nice sleds. I, too, noticed the .40 on the shelves of wally world. 70-80 boxes last week from two different makers, yet nil a box of .45.

Will the .40 up the mag capacity any?

I've seen some 9 round mags in .40, I think from Tripp Research. Most seem to be 8 rounders.

I built a commander from Fusion Parts a while back. It will be a great experience for you, and you will end up with a great gun. I can't wait to see the pics.
