I plan on taking my WC CQB on a hog hunting trip this summer. I was thinking of Buffalo Bore's 180 grain loading (a pretty stout loading) or maybe the Winchester Silvertip 175 grain load. I also handload and was wondering if a FMJ or solid type of load would be best. I have no experience with hg hunting. My friend and I are planning on using a service in Tennessee. Looking at Tennessee Extreme Hunting Adventures right now.

ETA I was putting this in here because it's coming out of a 1911. If the mods wish to move it feel free.

I'd recommend something a bit harder hitting like Buffalo Bore or Double Tap in their 200 grain hardcast.

The Winchester Silvertip 175 grain load work great on horses but no experience with hogs though.

I'd go with a hardcast round with a large flat nose. Either the 180 or the 200 should do well. I would not worry too much about getting the very most out of velocity, though. Pick any round that gets you over 1100 fps or so and keep your shots to a reasonable range and you'll be fine.

The Win Silvertips are pretty good.  They are full speed (1290 fps) and I am pretty sure the bullet is bonded.

I would also think about a hardcast flat nose. I am basing this on success of using the same type of bullet in 45 Colt, 44, and 357.

Well, I just re-read the OP, you might want to see if the 1911 will feed flat nose lead bullets.  I have a 610 revolver so I was thinking more in those lines.

Hornady XTP's loaded hot (DoubleTap) Penetrate nicely but still expand decently...
I like the 200gr variety.
