My Springfield 1911 only works without the mainspring cap pin.  Why is that? When I assemble my 1911 with the Mainspring Cap Pin the hammer does not half cock. In fact the hammer wobbles loosely when in the up position. Is the Mainspring Cap Pin a necessary?  Help.

Nope - I ran a 1911 without that pin for years. It only makes it easier to fully disassemble the lower... even then, its not that difficult. Just pull the pin and forget about it.

Good to know....  Why did you run your weapon without it in the first place?

Are you using it in a SA locking MSH?

It appears to be a normal MSH.  I does not have that Kid safety lock thingy.

Hmm, that's weird.

I was gonna ask about the Springfield ILS system too.

Are you using the ILS mainspring housing guts in a non ILS mainspring housing?

Umm.. As a matter of fact, yes.

That is your problem.

You cannot use ILS parts in a non ILS MSH.
