| Well I made up my mind for my second 1911. It'll probablly be a long time before I can get one but the valor in stainless is it. How long does it take those guys to get the new models out? |

Dang.......I clicked on this expecting to see a pic of your new Valor. I love Dan Wesson guns. They are beautiful. |

Holy shit that looks nice! I really want a PM9, but it looks like they stopped making them. I really like that finish. Can you take more pics of it? Sure, I can take more pics of it.....after I clean it. Took it to the range today and put 50 rounds through it. It orked 100%, and grouped nicely. Took my Glock 23 also. I don't think my Glock's gonna see much use in the future. Grizz |

Thanks for the feedback. I'm using a Minolta 5D DSLR. For these, I used my standard Minolta 24-108mm lens. I actually get somewhat better results with my 50mm prime lens.
In my opinion, for this type of indoor photography, lighting's more importand than the camera. I wish I could say I used X studio lighting setup, but I don't have any studio lighting yet. I used a typical pole-type light that bounces off the ceiling, spiral flourescents in the room's lighting fixture (with glass cover thingy removed), an automotive-type trouble light (with a matching spiral flourescent) for key lighting, and bounced the flash off the ceiling. After I stopped, I realized that I forgot a magwell shot, so I'll probably take a few more, with the 50mm. Gotta go to the range first to test and chrono some 308 loads. Grizz |

Grizz Gentlemen: sorry for the brief off topic. The lighting looks fine. Did you run through some post processing? (I'm using Google Picasa 3 freeware and trying to learn Gimp) I may be a lens shy of what I need with my new Pentax K7. Using the kit 18-55 lense / tripod and sort of a light box with 4 spiral flourescents in clamp ones. Results are disappointing so far but going to try some different things today like using the flash and playing with different apertures. Next lens will be a 2.8f 50-135 which should work OK but there is this 100mm macro.. Between camera gear and guns, I'll have to push retirement back 5 years. Thanks for the info Grizz. |

Why is the new valor $1800 vs. the old ones bing $1350? Better parts, better attention to detail, better finish, and last but not least, pricing it where it should be. There was a thread in the 1911 forum where the DW rep stated why the price increase was so high. I think they are trying to compete with the other semi customs in that price range (LB, EB, Fusion). |
