...so my LW Operator out of the box...shot 5" high way left..sent back...corrected...still shot 5" high but dead center windage...sent back...while it was in I had them replace the ambi safety with a standard kings extended and change out that infernal ILS mainspring housing for a non ILS...got it back today test target is perfect....slide safety....perfect...mainspring housing...perfect......grip safety however...inoperable..stuck in the depressed position .....so one more "effing time it goes back....at this pont it has been in SA's possesion more than my own....just ranting...

Have you tried disassembly to make sure it is assembled correct. The sear spring may be installed wrong. It would be less time consuming if it is just a simple fix. ...not yet..I am at work and dont have access to my bench.but thats on the agenda for this evening....maybe...doubt i will get time..kind of busy till late tonight ... |

Try disassembly let us know if you find anything that looks unusual maybe it is something you can fix or adjust yourself. Post resolution or findings tonight if you can. ..will do....if i had changed out the FLGR like I had planned i could have stripped it here at work...I'll update probably in the morning before i send it back....unless i get it fixed..glad i have the Kuhnhausen books... |

Ive changed my mind from the LW Operator to a TRP. Been hearing lots of probs with SA's lately. Ive seen and heard of these problems for years now. I bought a loaded 5 years ago that couldnt couldnt finish a mag without an FTE and would return the slide hlafway back into full battery on occasion. The only "loaded" part about it was the claim that it was a quality pistol. After much consternation, I sent it to the SA "custom shop" on my own dime with a check for $750 to upgrade it to a TRP. I got back a pistol with couple of new parts, a second coat of gun-kote(or whatever they use) except now the thumb safety wouldnt sweep up without using 2 hands. I sent it back a 2nd time to have them fix that problem and really had a change of heart thinking about what SA had done to my pistol the first time. Thankfully Bob Miller of Miller Custom was just down the road and agreed to go and pick it up for me and subsequently turned it into a functional, fighting handgun. Long story short: SA and SA Custom Shop arent the end-all be-all that some of the fanboys here would have you believe. |

I am having problems with mine too - posted a couple of messages here about it. Brand new loaded model wont feed hollow points.. I wrote Springfield emails twice on the past 3 days with no answer so far. It is hard to call here from work, so I choose to email them.
My experience with customer support replies: SIG Sauer - Wrote them an email, they replied on the same day. Smith and Wesson - Same as above, but answer on the next day. Colt - Answered the email within 2 days Alexander Arms - Answered on the same day Bushmaster - Answer within 2 days SPRINGFIELD ARMORY - 3 DAYS AND COUNTING... |

I have a gun in there right now for work and they are swamped. I called for an update and waitiing on return call. I agree that even when busy, customer service should still be #1. But it does happen. Emails to large companies I always kinda treat as a crap shoot. |

If you've ever seen their Main building in Geneseo (Armalite's too) you'd wonder how these companies are as "Big" as they are. Granted, they have thousands of pistols out there with their name on them and the Gun panic of Obama times has dictated more emphasis on quantity than quality, they are swamped. As much as I love Springfield, this might be good for them. It's most likely costing a metric ass-load to fix stuff on warranty. I bet they'll want to up QC so they stop getting huge shipments of broken pistols and pissed customers. That said, their Customer Service is supposed to be excellent. I haven't needed it with my 4 Springfields, but many reports of good CS can't all be made up. |

Everyone's QC went to hell after Obama got elected...I have seen alot of guns, by what people here would call "Tier One" manufactures, that are not indicative of their past quality. Alot of Colts, Bushmasters, Sigs, Springfields, Kimbers, etc that had to be sent back or just looked bad. |

I sent my GI off to SA for reliability problems. While it was there I had YoBo retro sights installed and a Black T finish applied. When it came back, the finish was so thick, the slide would take a full second to return to battery after firing. It feels like there is a gallon of maple syrup slowing down the slide. I' said "hey, just needs to be worn down a bit", so 800+ rounds later, still the same problem. I'm sending it back to SA a second time. I don't know what they'll do, but I'm almost afraid to find out. |

It's just easier that way when I don't have to worry about the first scratch or a perfect, unblemished receiver. ![]() |
