[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Moding an old Combat commander.

I hate the winter, I'll spend money on side projects that I really do not need to do, but they pass the time.

I have an old stock Commander that next week sometime I plan on installing, Ed Brown Hi-ride grip safety ( have jig already),set of sights Brownells has the Heirloom rear sight for 28 bucks and I got a Heini .2 high front sight. Slide will need to be cut and I hope the front is going to be tall so I can remove metal to adjust. Now all i need is a long trigger that I forgot to order.

Don't you think a 0.200" front sight is going to be awfully tall for a Commander?

It may just be. After it is installed I will test fire then mill off the amount not needed.

Dec 31 is not the best time to order parts.

Is John Harrison selling his new Heirloom Professional Novak sight yet? I'm not a big fan of the Heinie cut.

I guess the sight Brownells is selling as HP is old stock. Sight came with a YB stamp.

Heinie now has Novak cut Lo-Mount sights with a ledge. Just put a set on my Commander. Has the straight eight night sight too.

The EGW custom fit bushing is a great fit. It is tight, had to work the slide a few time before it would go into battery.
