I posted this in the mag section and got nothing, so I thought I would try here.

I installed an extended slide release on my 1911, and it works fine with all my mags except the chips, seems like they have to much slack in the followers and they just move to the side and won't engage. Has anyone else experinced this?

Tripp upgrade kits!  The extended slide release does yours require any fitting or was it drop it??? Some of them require that you shape the part that engages the mag.

It was drop in. It works fine with my wilson combat and stock mags. but the follower of the the Chips has play and lets it move to the side and not engage.

I would do Tripp upgrades on them.

The McCormick followers can be tweaked to fit your slide stop.  On some 1911's, the slide stop can prevent the McCormick mag from dropping.  I had one mismatch that I had to rip out and the follower and spring came out of the magazine body.  It was a 'factory' 8 round Colt magazine (meaning Metalform).

The Wilson kit is nice, but the Tripp (IMO) is better.

Your going to have  bad experience I'm afraid. There have been many reports of Tripps " hybrid ". I'm not sure what it's called so I'll calle it the plastic and stainless follower. It doesn't work so well in CMC Mags. There have been many positive experiences with Wilson's CMC Upgrade Kits.

From left to right. Colt factory mags, next are CMC 10 round mags that have the correct ten round Tripp updated followers installed, Then Wilson and the ten round Tripp Cobra's....yawn..

The follower I use in lower left corner.... updated CMC mags are still 10 rounders and have about a 1000 rds each and seem to be working fine.

Excuse me for asking, but WHY would you want an extended slide release?

Well, for the reason you describe above for starters. You want to hit the slide release & lock your slide when you least need it locked?

In addition, extended slide releases are know to "bounce" under recoil & lock the slide. I've seen it happen.

Hey, your gun & your $$$$, obviously you can do it how you like. I just wished to warn ya on the hazard(s).
