I have an original issue Colt Mark IV/Series 70 government model full size 1911.  It's completly original with no gunsmithing, it has been sitting in a safe for about 20 years, until recently. I was just curious what it might be worth on the current market.  Guesses are fine but serious answers only please, if I want jokes I'll watch TV.  Thanks in advance.  I can post pics tomorrow.

700 to 850

Depending on condition and usage really though can you post pictures.  The description you gave is very vague.

FYI asking for now jokes just encourages smart ass remarks from some people.

Is it a recent re-issue, or an original Series 70?

I think the re-issues go for about $800 or so, and the originals will fall in a wide range according to condition, originality, and accessories included.

98% condition, with box –– $1000

down to

Moderate wear, Bubba-smithed, no box, missing original parts - $400-500.
