I have a Springfield 1911 "GI", I was looking at compensator's on the internet.  Has anyone that used one noticed a difference?  Are they worth it?

Only if you are running some real high vilocity rounds.

So short answer is save you money.

unless your pistol is a featherweight, then you should not have a need for a compensator.. I have a SA Loaded and the feel of the recoil on my 45 is not bad at all... Now if you just want to stick every bell and whistle on your pistol , then that is understandable.... I could use a weapons of mass destruction rail  right on my pistola for added effect

Not if you're just shooting .45. If you have a .38 Super race gun, that may be a different story.

If you're running something other than standard .45- 45 super, 460 Rowland, 38 super, etc.... Yes. Other than that, no.

45 comps can be effective, but more gas the better the comp works.

I'd say save your cash.

I have one on a springfield that is kind of old school. It works with the old surefire light well. I like it.

I've fired a mag or two through one of my guns with a cheap "bushing comp" installed. There was no appreciable difference in recoil or muzzle flip. I have not used a real competition compensator, so I can't speak to their efficacy.

You don't need to be mean about another man's gun.

OP: You don't need a compensator.

45acp

This thing shoots like a dream and has the recoil of a .380.....no joke.
