I have a Pelican 1490 that i use for my pistols.  I also Have 2 1750's for my long rifles.  We used them in Iraq and Afghan and they were the only thing that would protect our scopes from damage we even had one fall out of a UH-60 from about 20m up and the rifle was perfectly fine and held zero.

I got a really nice Boyt Pistol case for mine.  It holds eight magazines in outside pockets.  Very handy.  Good protection.

My range bag has 2 padded pistol pockets. I fill them then use individual plastic hard cases for the other toys on the trip.
