I'm trying to decide between two styles of VZ grips: G10 Alien or G10 Diamond Backs. I need something with a good amount of grip, but does't kill the hands after a day of shooting and doesn't catch on every little piece of clothing. Thank you for your input, experiences and opinions.

I like the Black Paper Micarta Operators myself.

these are my tiger stripe aliens.  they're the best grips i've ever used on a 1911.  the most grippy without tearing up your hands at all-great for carry.

If you will be using an IWB holster for concealed carry you may find the grips aren't as comfortable against the skin as you might like.  In this situation you might like something smoother.  Other than that I really like the slim VZ double diamonds which have plenty of grip that is enhanced by the thinner panels.

I have tried many different 1911 grips and my new favorite is the ROCO panels with palm swell.  They aren't the tackiest grip which is my only complaint but a 1911 has never felt better in my hands, and I've never shot a 1911 as well as I did the first time I shot with these.  And they're only like $30. Try 'em you'll become a believer too... ohh  and I have small hands...  it's not a hand size thing with these grips, it's a filling of the natural gap created in your palm by the thin profile of the 1911.
