does anyone make a drop-in barrel that doesn't need any smithing? any help would be great, thanks. 1911 gov mod |
| They all need some kind of fitting, but some are designed to be "semi-drop-in" with minimal fitting needed to make them function. However, if a barrel fits without any fitting, chances are it will be too loose and accuracy/reliability will suffer. Generally its a trade-off - the more fitting, the more accurate and reliable it will be. If you can't fit a standard barrel yourself, pay an experienced 1911 smith to do it for you... buy once, cry once. |

I purchased a drop-in barrel from Fusion Firearms.........the unit was a ramped 9mm parabellum gov't lenght model...........believe me, it dropped right-in and I have had zero issues with it...........runs like a champ!
I also used a couple of the Roto barrels from Sarco and others..............I was pleased with the 45 acp model in Commander length.........again, dropped right in and zero.......problems.........on the other hand the 9mm ones suck...........not throated enough to feed ball as the come.............. |
