| I own an Enhanced S.A. G.I. I would like to see yours(G.I. Colt, Milspec, etc), and hear what you've done if applicable. I'll try and post a pic soon. Since I received mine; I did add an Ed Brown extended mag catch and firing pin. I also installed an oversized EGW firing pin stop. Other than that she has remained stock and a very reliable shooter. Definately one of the coolest, GOOD guns I own. |

Stand by. I just moved to Hawaii and have to start a new Photobucket account. But, you've got me motivated so pics to follow! What area? Oahu? We can always use another shooter around here. Come say hi in the HTF. Yes, I'm in Oahu. Send me an IM I have been dying to shoot. I just got settled in with work and home so it's time! |

In the pics above: SA G.I. Enhanced, Kart Barrel installed with EGW bushing, VZ DD-grips. The serations can kind of get in the way because they are sharp when shooting, but I still like them. They have a 'classic' look. The only problem I had was durring one of my first sessions. Bad WWB ammo was to blame and had some of the weirdest things happen. A primer cap came loose and jammed up the gun and another time the gun went click, but no bang. There was a mark on the primer...
One of the Novak mags would not drop free so it was trashed. After performing the additions in my first post and shooting more there has been no such repeats. Mags used: 47D's, CMC power mags w/Tripp followers, standard SA G.I. mags w/dimple and Novak. Very pleased with this gun. She is loose and will rattle w/o a mag, but I know she will go bang every time. I thought about tightening, but I've been every where from PAC NORWEST, New England and now Hawaii. I want something I can shake loose. My collection consists of the SA G.I. Enhanced, Kimber TLE II (Lightly customized), S&W 686 (4") and a Ruger 44 Vaquero. I stand by these products because they work: Ottis cleaning kit, MPro-7 gun and bore cleaner and Militec lube/grease. They just work! |

In the pics above: SA G.I. Enhanced, Kart Barrel installed with EGW bushing, I have read test after test that show Kart barrels to perhaps be THE best 1911 barrels out there. I have a Wilson NM in my mil-spec SA & sometimes wished I had gone with Kart back then.

Kart makes a great barrel and that is who Les Baer contracts to make their barrels. Also, the Kart barrel seems to clean up a lot easier after shooting. The bore and rifling are very clean and precise. The start of any good accuracy job is the barrel and fitting. My accuracy would probably better if the gun had the frame/slide tightened. This gun feels a lot different from my Kimber TLE II. Though not as smooth or as tight, you can really feel each part work with the other as they should, and in that sense; I am more in tune with this gun. The addition of the Oversized Firingpin Stop from EGW is great. The muzzle flip is reduced and most of the recoil goes a little up and firmly rearward. Follow up shots are easier and everything just flows. The way YB widened the rear sight really comes into play. I like it. This is a very cool, no frills, business gun. |

I bought a brand new Les Baer and had to scrub the hell out of it in an attempt to get all the gunk out of the barrel from test-firing. Even after shooting it and cleaning it more I don't think I got the gunk out of it. I bought it in '08 though and when I checked the serial # it was a 2005 gun, so this may have played a roll in things. Frame/Slide fit are responsible for only about 5-MAYBE 10 percent of over-all accuracy from a 1911. |

Why are people posting pictures of guns other than Yost Bonitz 1* pistols? ![]() Yeah, like guys posting pics of guns that still carry the 1* logo, and weren't built by Ted, Jason, or Steve like all of the real YoBo 1*'s were. You mean other than the fact that Lew Bonitz was the "BO" in YoBO?
As far as the post above this one, I believe he wanted to see them regardless of what frame/base gun they were built on, not just ANY custom, otherwise he could have just gone through the 1911 pic thread. But I may be wrong |
