Was at the toy store today and saw one of these NIB.  I had one of the original ones in the early 80's.  Had to sell it in the divorace and haven't owned one since.

How do the new ones compare to say a Kimber Tactical Custom or Springfield TRP?

Any actual owners out there?

Thx.

What's the price?

Regardless, if NIB, I would snatch it up if the price was right.  I have a TRP, and would consider purchasing another, though if said TRP was alongside said Colt Delta Elite, I would go with the Colt.

Anything is better than a Kimber, but I love Colts so I would buy the Colt over the Springfield.

Wouldn't compare it to a Kimber, they are just not a quality 1911 IMO.

Fit/Finish/Features, TRP is ahead in all 3 over the Colt.  It's just a better pistol altogether.

I have one but I haven't shot it much (100 rds) but it is a well built pistol that is well worth the money in my NEVER humble opinion. I can't say anything about the Kimber or SA as I have never handled or shot either and likely never will as I have no intention of buying them.

The new Colt Combat Elite is in the XSE family...my brother just picked up a blue'd Colt XSE and it shot like a honey...I didn't even dislike the duckbill...anyway...the Combat Elite has the upsweep, no ambi-safety (I'm a Southpaw or at the price you saw yours at, I would buy one)...love the two tone and grip plates...one thing to look for...my bother's XSE has some knife sharp edges all over it...other than that (hey it can double as an edged weapon :D) is was nice right out of the box...pics when you get it (you know you're gonna get it...;) )

I believe that's a pretty good price.  Also does the XSE platforms use cheaper parts than the series 70?  I know a lot of the smiths like the series 70 because they can modify the parts with out replacing them like Springers.

AT LEAST THAT IS WHAT I READ ON THE INTRANETS

No, but they have the Series 80 firing pin safety.

Unlike Mr Tidler, I do own a Kimber. And a Remington Rand too, but that's the extent of my non-colt 1911s.

I have an enhanced Combat Elite, one from the mid 90's, and wouldn't hesitate buying another, but haven't had the need (or money
) lately. I did have a trigger job done on it when it was new, something I haven't felt a need to do with the New Agent I got last year. Here it is, wearing its .22LR Colt conversion unit:

IMHO, Colt is really stepping back into the market. When I bought my New Agent, the closest equivalent Kimber was still several hundred dollars more expensive. There is a local shop that has had a NIB Colt Gov't Model in stock, in .38 Super for (IIRC) $725 cash or $750 credit card. If it had the XSE or enhanced features*, I would really be considering adding another caliber...

* Colt enhanced features-lowered flared ejection port, beavertail grip safety, National Match type flat top slide, under cut trigger guard and 3 dot sights

I have one of the new Combat Elite's, and have owned a Kimber along with another Colt.  I think that the new Combat Elite is great, and although I've only fired about 250 rounds through mine, I haven't had one hiccup, which is more than I can say for any other 1911 that I've owned.  50 of those rounds were Federal HST 230g HP's, and it ate and digested them perfectly and without hesitation, including using the Colt 8 round mags that come with the gun.

Huh?
Look I know the TRP is a pretty decent pistol, but the Combat Elite I have has been much nicer than any TRP I have had experience with.

I have about 1500-1600 rds through mine and the only failure I had was a case that was crimped. I love mine

How are you defining nicer?  It doesn't have the trigger the TRP has, doesn't have any checkering on the front strap, no night sights, and the slide/frame fit is nothing special.

Personally I would not put the 2 into the same category, but the OP asked and I answered.

Honestly, if you can look it over which you can Id be very interested in the Colt at 900 bucks. I could buy a TRP for 1300 plus tax so it would end up $954 for the Colt and $1378. You can do a lot with an extra $400, magwell, checkered frontstrap, 10-8 rear sight, blend the frame/slide/extractor/ejector and Gunkote it yourself.

And you'd be right where the TRP is for features with a whole lot of extra work involved

Yeah but I bought my TRP for 1200 and gutted it and could have had close to 1600 in it when I was  done. I dont know for sure I never kept track of the receipts.

In the TRP I:

Put a Kings thumb safety in it.

Colt Commander hammer

Hardcore Sear, disconnector and firing pin stop

Brown or Wilson extractor and ejector, cant remember which company it came from.

10-8 rear sight

Hardcore slide stop

Brown barrel bushing and recoil spring plug and guide rod

EGW barrel link and pin

Smith and Alexander mainspring housing with Brown guts

Wolff springs everywhere.

I think that covers it. I cant leave stuff alone and regardless of it being great or not I dump MIM parts.

Like I said, if I was in the market Id be looking hard at the new Colts due to price and the ignition parts. Ive never left a production 1911 alone, they always get what I consider important parts replaced with high quality stuff.

I spose I can understand that.

I've had this strange hankering for a Series 70 (new or old) or an XSE as of late (so I'm not just some hater)
