Hello
I went to the range the yesterday to shoot a little AR15. A younger guy in his 20's was there with a ARTRP Springer.

He asked me if 700 rds of flawless shooting both SD ammo and practice hardball is sufficient to start carrying the TRP.
I said first what do you carry now  he says a G21SF.
Welcome to the 1911 world of difference, I told him 700 should be plenty the TRP is a very good gun, I had mine on my hip and told him I waited for a 1000 rds before I started carrying mine but now I'm in the multiple thousands.

So is 700 enough did I tell him the right thing?
I think he took my opinion serious cause I watched him change holsters and put the G21 in his range bag! I thought wow do I look that old with my gray beard, maybe makes me look like I know what I'm talking about. Wish My son would respond that fast to what I say!!!
He was very good with it too!

If he shoots 700 he'll shoot 1000.

I'm sure you told him fine.

If he can get through 700 rounds without an issue, it's a pretty good bet he'll get through another 8 without a problem if he has to use it.

I've put about that many through my springfield LW champion operator and I ccw it sometimes. I wouldn't hesitate at the thought of it not being reliable with that many flawless rounds through it. I am shooting it on saturday with about 300 more rounds and I don't expect anything other than perfection...

I usually go with "shot it and cleaned it" at least 3 sessions (probably more) and the shooting up to 500 rounds.  By that time, you should know what the gun is going to do.
