I just can't decide on stainless or armory kote.  How durable is the armory kote?  And the armory kote versions are carbon steel underneath correct?  I'm thinking of trading my Noveske N4 light carbine for one and can't make up my mind.

Thanks

I was in the same situation. When I went to get my TRP they had both the AK and SS. I picked the AK because to me the SS didn't look like SS. it looked more of a gray then a silver. I don't know any better way to describe it. I'm happy with my pick but if I had the money to buy the SS model also I would. It would be used for competitions as I wouldn't mind the wear on the SS over the AK.

Here I'll try to sway you to the AK version.

The stainless is gorgeous, but I'm a black gun kind of guy.

Is it carbon steel under the AK? How does it hold up to holster wear and does it have a tendency to flake off?

That's an awesome picture of your TRP

I went with the stainless back in '01.
None of the local shops had one in stock and I had to order it.
I didn't want to take the chance on getting a finish that I had no experience with.

I have both, like both. Accurate and RELIABLE pistols. They have been used for a lot of training and matches the past few years.

The AK TRP has seen a lot of leather holster time and presentations with very little wear. Some faint wear by the muzzle, and some finish is worn around the ejection port. I am not sure of the round count, but probably around ~6-8,000 rounds through it by now, easy. Unless you look close, you would think its a new pistol.

My SS TRP has been in my hands for less time. It is a matt stainless finish. Also a great shooter. Probably 2-3K through the stainless TRP now.

If I were to buy a new one, I'd lean towards the AK with no worries. I like the more subdued finish.
