Finally bought one, couldn't resist any longer! Hehe. It's a used Smith&Wesson 1911PD with Crimson Trace laser sight grips. They came with the gun. I got it this weekend. It's light, 4.25" barrel, titanium receiver, and it feels great in my hands. Just like most 1911's, the trigger pull is smooth, short, and just all around amazing.

The only gripe I had with the whole thing is that the previous owner had allowed a lot of copper (or some other material, I'm not sure which) stay in the barrel for a long time and I had a helluva time getting it out. Even with foaming bore cleaner, mountains of Breakfree CLP, a brass .45 brush, and about 50 patches it was still there! Thankfully, when I shot it today, I immediately got home and cleaned it out and the shooting had apparently gotten out the small amount that I hadn't been able to! ::) Hell, I won't complain though!

Obligatory Pics! The target was at around 10 yards... The lack of accuracy on some of the shots was entirely *MY* fault, not the gun's.... I have a long way to go as far as becoming a pistol marksman! I'll keep working on it though :P

Great pistol!

And don't worry about the target, the groups will get smaller as you get more used to the gun.  Besides, all those are center mass, more than sufficient to take a man down for a .45...we aren't talking 9mm here

Very nice! I had the same model (minus the CT)... REALLY regret selling it. I plan on getting another one some day to replace it.

Thanks for the nice comments. :)

I need to work on my technique pretty badly. While doing some dry-firing practice I realized that I have a TON of movement when I pull the trigger. That's something I definitely need to work on to become a better shot. I might play with the trigger a bit too, attack my "bad technique" from both sides. :D

Congrats on your first 1911. I just jumped on the train also. Love it so far.

Slick 1911, I've been wanting to pick up a 1911PD for a while now.

Nice looking first pistol.
Just remember to take a breath, aim, and squeeze smoothly. concentrate on not jerking the trigger. let the bang surprise you and you will start shooting better and better. Don't relay on the laser. learn to shoot the sights!

happy shooting and good luck!

very good start; now, the choice of ammo is important, specially for home defense; get some range time and tighten up the shot pattern and enjoy it. A very good beginning, sir.

Good, solid 1911 - but it has a Scandium frame, not titanium....

Very nice!

I like the S&W 1911 offerings.  They seem to do a nice, more modern 1911 set of features without turning the thing into either a goofy race gun or a $3,000 custom.
