Not my, nor usual 1911, question.
I have the opportunity to purchase a Kimber Custom II, used with about 1500 rounds through it for $750... Or I could wait 6-11 months for a new Springfield Loaded 1911 for $845 from a local store. What would you do? |

1. Price is high for a used Kimber Custom II. Should cost about that new. 2. Kimber has the Schwartz firing pin safety, which I don't think anyone considers to be desirable. 3. Tons of NIB Springfield Loadeds on Gunbroker. This No offense to either of you or to MrBackpack, but since he is referring to one of my guns I'd like to add (to my defense): The Kimber has a NightHawk Custom steel MSH with fitted magwell, Bill Springfield tuned trigger, Chip MC magazine, Mike's Tactical holster and I lowered the price to $700. You are right that a Custom II runs $750 new, but the extra stuff costs more than $250. Mods if you don't like this post I will happily remove it, I just wanted to defend my posting in case anyone else saw it. |

A nice 1911 collection start my friend. Kimber is MUCH lighter and easier on recoil IMO, ergo better accuracy. YMMV |
| I would go with the Kimber. Artsohc is pretty knowledgeable about 1911's and he is a helpful guy so I wouldn't sweat buying the gun from him. I have had less than desirable observations of the Loaded model, so I can not recommend one. That being said, after buying the Kimber you can save up for a TRP or a Pro. |
