anyone have a pic? Their web-site just lists Micro compact, and ulra compact. is this a discontinued model?I googeld it but just led me to pics of Kimbers. Thanks for any help with pics or hotlinks.. And let me know if they are good shooters. I get nervous with smaller 1911's.

What kind of compact are you looking for? I'm getting a micro compact bi-tone operator with light rail. Have heard that these were very accurate and reliable.

http://www.whittakerguns.com/

click on new handguns on the left side of the page and scroll all the way to the bottom of the page to the Springfield Armory 1911's.

this store is 20 miles from my house and it's a family owned business. very good prices.

SA makes a Govt., Champion & Micro model in 1911s. I've not heard of a "Ultra" compact from SA but Kimber makes this model. Methinks you may have your mfgr's confused?

I've got a SA Ultra Compact on my belt as I type this.  They do make em.
Think OP was asking about the Compact which had a longer barrel/slide than the Ultra-Compact.

Edit to add: been a few years since I've laid eyes on a Compact, they may be discontinued.  Try calling Springfield directly, they've been great the couple of times I've called.

I believe the compacts are now discontinued. I had one about five years ago and sold it, I have regreted it ever since. They still had them listed sometime last year in stainless only but they were very hard to come by. One of the perfect sized 1911's to carry yet it never really caught on. Kimber makes one as does Wilson and some of the other higher end 1911 companies.

I found a used one last summer after a long search.  In my opinion, it is the perfect size carry 1911.

I have one and love the thing, good carry size and still 7+1 and being all steel recoil is mild and quick follow up shots....
