I bought the gun about 3 months ago and haven't had it for the past two months.  It's an MC Operator built similar to the 10-8 operators.

Eddie Jimenea tuned (got his reliability package, trigger job, and then some)
10-8 Rear sight
Smith and Alexander magwell (flat/checkered) - blended to match frame bevel
Front strap checkered 20 lpi

The frame was recoated in a teflon based coating.  Eventually I would like to have the gun ionbonded.

Pics:

I need to get it to the range soon because the coating has made the gun cycle really tight.  I'm also a little worried about my Surefire DG switch.  It's an 18 model which is listed as the switch for the SA TRP and other railed 1911's, but it is about a centimeter or two away from the grip of the gun.  It may bend with use but I'm concerned it could get hung up and possibly break or be damaged.  Anyone have any knowledge on the issue?

Looks good, I like those grips, are they G10's?  Cant say about the light switch, but the light itself is great, I run the same one on my operator.
How do you like the 10-8 sights?  I have thought about replacing the stock sights on mine and the 10-8 was one of the sights I was considering, along with the Heine straight 8's.

Freakin outstanding!

Who undercut the grip at the trigger guard?  It looks fantastic!  The only thing I don't care for on my 10-8 Operator is the grip with the old school profile.

ETA, I've got the DG switch on my Surefire on my 10-8 gun and it doesn't have that much of a gap.  I'll see if I can dig up the papers on which model DG switch it is.

+1

I'm looking at a MC Operator, but want the higher grip offered by the high cut trigger guard.

I bought the gun used, but I assumed the trigger guard was cut that way from the factory.  I'm not sure if my Operator is the older or newer design, but I have seen different cuts on the dust cover (some are straight while others are cut at an angle).

They are the nighthawk custom g10 golfball/gunner grips.

I like the 10-8 sights a lot.  I've tried various sights on various guns over the past few years and the 10-8 sights ended up being the best for me.  I have them on my glock as well.  One thing to consider is whether the sight as a straight front or ledge for cycling the gun one handed using the rear sight on against some object on your person (holster, belt, etc.).  This is almost impossible to practice with the carry style rear sights.  I don't know if the Heinie sights have a flat edge or not.

Here's a pic of the gun when I first purchased it and one of the above pictures below it for comparison.  Apparently it was cut a little higher when it was getting the front strap checkered.  I didn't really notice it until now though.  The smith that did the checkering was Ed VandenBurg in Webster, Texas.

Haha, I was just checking the pics in your previous thread and was thinking that was probably what happened.  You got a bonus, and he did a great job!

I never really thought much of it until I shot my 10-8 (w/o) and my ADCO RRA (with).  I definitely prefer the undercut.

i have my SA compact w/undercut grip and i love it. i'd like to get my operator and champion undercut but it would foul up the coatings, armor coat & bead blast.
OP, do you have a link to your 'smiths shop?

Sweet gun!  You need to try one of the 10-8 flat triggers in that thing!

If/when I buy an MC Operator that is exactly what I want it to look like (except I want 25lpi).

That gun looks AWESOME.

I was told over at 10-8forums to bend the dg switch with pliers and that worked out fine.  I was also told that I should somehow glue/attach a piece of plastic or something to the back of the dg switch where it contacts the checkering on the front strap.  Otherwise the rubber on the switch will tear with use. Anyone have any ideas on what to use here (as far as what type of plastic and the method of adhesion)?
