I talked to a bunch of 1911 guys in my area who all overwhelmingly recommended an MC Operator for a first time buyer's LE duty gun.  I searched for about two weeks before I found an old add in the EE.  I then spent three weeks trying to get the damn thing purchased and in my hands.  My first cashiers check sent USPS priority with delivery confirmation dissappeared.  My bank said the recipient would have to sign and have notarized on affidavit stating the check was lost - otherwise I'd have to pay for another out of my pocket and wait 90 days for my money back from the first check.  I sent the seller the form, got it back, and got a new check.  The day I sent out the new check, the old check with the stop payment on it miraculously shows up at the recipients home (damn postal employees) - seven days after it was allegedly delivered.  UPS then wouldn't ship the gun to my FFL without getting a copy of his license because his address was listed as residential.  I couldn't get a hold of the guy and luckily found a co-worker that was able to get everything straightened out.

So this past Saturday morning I picked up my lightly used, new to me SA MC Operator.  I've always heard that the 1911 is the most ergonomical pistol in the world and that it would outshoot just about any other pistol in the same person's hands.  I just always wrote that off as fan talk.  I shot a coworkers custom Colt Series 70 and was extremely impressed.  Enough so that I bought a 1911.  I'm not immediately going to transition to the gun but do have holsters and mag pouches on order for work use.  I have two tac pistol classes this month that I will run the gun through.  I've got 5 CMC 10rd Power Mags coming tomorrow and a blade-tech quad mag pouch.

Here's some pics:

I've also got an S&A blued Magguide (backordered), some Nighthawk Custom G10 golfball pattern grips in black, and the mainspring/pin/cap to remove the ILS coming in the next couple of days.

When I can recover from the cost of everything so far, I will order a Surefire X300 with DG swith.  For now I'll have to use my TLR-1.  I also will at some point have the frame coated in black, have the front strap checkered, and have a trigger job/reliability package done.  I'll run the gun through the two pistol courses first.
