Hi folks, I figured I'd post an update here on my Obama-BOB (so named because it's a half-white big-mouth :biglaugh::biglaugh:) since it's been right about a year.

Dave Severns took my factory second CBOB and worked over the internals, new bushing, new front sight, matte hard chrome on the frame and Hard-Hat on the slide.  I keep saying I'm going to get some nicer looking grips, but still haven't gotten it done yet.  You'd be amazed at how long it takes me to get some minor things done.

Function-wise the pistol has been pretty near 100%.  When I chamber-check my reloads I have ZERO misfeeds, in fact at the last 3-gun match I never had so much as a hiccup from this gun- 100% the entire match.  My potential brother-in-law had some problems with it, but he's a recent convert to conservatism from the Seattle area so I'm pretty sure he had a REALLY weak wrist.  When I told him to cling to it like ugly clings to Pelosi he did just fine.

The Hard-Hat finish is getting pretty burnished on the hard edges, but keep in mind that I only carry this in a leather holster if my pants are on.  It got really abused last year on the bow hunt when I got so sweaty that the gun was quite wet and didn't get properly clearned for several days while I was in the backcountry.  In fact the rear sight started to show some surface rust, but that cleaned right off with some oil and a few minutes of care.  The hard chrome is still immaculate.  We had a bit of a bear issue at our camp this year and the 1911 in a good holster is about the only option, we are not allowed to carry a gun on the bow hunt unless you carry concealedand have a concealed permit.

I have fired about 3-4K rounds through it, I'm not really sure anymore but I know that I'm not shooting nearly as much as I used to.  I put about 2K rounds through it in the first 2 months I had it then life got in the way and I just don't shoot as much anymore.  Internal wear is non-existant but I can photograph the underside of the slide if anyone is curious.  There is some slight burnishing on the high spots of the hard chrome, but it's just getting slicker and slicker.

Enough yacking, here's the pics-

That's not wear on the slide, that's character.

Nice looking gun. Thanks for the inspiration.   I have a CBOB and am working toward what you have.   I have it just about where I want it function wise...just need to decide on how to go about the two tone.   Leaning toward Black-T on the top as Birdsong is local to me.
