Marvel seems to be the standard, it is made in two different versions.

I have a Ciener and a Kimber conversion.  I like the Kimber's adjustable rear site.  I like the Ciener's magazines.  Course I think Ciener makes Kimber's .22 conversion so get a Ciener .22 conversion and order 3 extra 15 round magazines for it and you are good to go.

Buy a Marvel. Period.

I run a old Colt Conversion myself but they are almost impossible to find and few people will get rid of them.

The Marvels are VG, make sure you spend the $$$ and get a few spare mags, you'll be glad you did.

Midway has both Kimber and Ciener kits on sale right now if they are in stock.

Tactical Solutions 2211 kits are great. I sold my Kimber kit to get one. It is much nicer.

I picked up a Ciener Platinum conversion unit on a dedicated RIA frame.  I can't believe how accurate it is, love the 15 rd mags even if they don't stay open on the last round.  Has been a very reliable unit as long as I use HV 22 RFs.

I heard from someone that the marvel kit uses the same mags as the Colt Ace conversion?  The only reason I ask is I have a Colt Ace anda  few magazines but it is finicky, and I was considering getting a Marvel.

Your ACE should not be finicky, my Colt conversion runs 100% for a couple of hundred rounds easily.

Kimber makes all it's 22 conversion kits in house, they are not made by Ciener.

Last summer I paid $175 for a used Ciener kit with fixed sights for my Norinco 1911 . Upon close inspection I found it had not actualy been used and probably never fitted to a frame but the shop I buy from considers anything used that doesn't come from their supplier. It came with a 10 round mag and I bought 2 more 15 rounders. It always runs good on any round nose, any CCI HP including Stinger HP, Fed Value Pack HP and Aguila HP but may experience stoppages with Winchester Xpert HP. .22Short will not cycle the action. I just bought a box of something called Winchester 333 36gr plated .22LR HP, 1280 fps that I'll try. Any LR that doesn't work well in the Ciener will be fed to my Ruger 10/22 rifle.  Those are about all I've shot in my Ceiner. Like any .22LR after so many rounds the chamber gets dirty and may cause a stoppage.
Cieners are perfect for introducing new shooters to semi auto pistols. The easy action allows them to develope some muscle memory before muscling a fully sprung 1911.

Well good for you, but with mine I have tried pretty much every brand of ammo under the sun and after 3-4 magazines I get consistent failures to eject.  The floating chamber just carbons up and binds up way too fast to make it worthwhile.  After about 3 years of fooling around and trying to convince myself it has been worthwhile I have pretty much given up and left it to the gun locker.

I know from research that I am not the only one who experiences this issue with an Ace conversion.

What type of ammunitiion are you using?

Usually I just run the Rem golden bullet value packs but I've also ran the Rem 1522 boxed stuff. I've NEVER had the floating chamber crud up on mine, I use a small dab of light white lithium grease between the two parts myself, seems to work well. I've shot it to the point that it's absolutely filthy and I've yet to have ejection problems. Is your extractor in good shape? I bought a spare from Numrich myself, they had a decent amount of NOS for them, I got all the usual replacement parts pretty reasonably priced.

I'll try the white grease + a new extractor, i sure woudl prefer to pay a few bucks for that than spend the money on a new upper altogether!
