What do you guys use on your 1911?

I generally use oil, but am thinking about switching over to grease since I have some and never use it.

I use Brownells action lube on everything and its black so it even makes a great rust preventive for use on the outside of the frame and slide, in fact I use it on all my firearms.

Carry guns, get oil.  Competition guns get grease as they see thousands and thousands of rounds a year.  During the winter months I'll mix slide glide light with oil to thin it up on the 9mms but everything else gets slide glide light.

Try Weaponshield CLP. Created by the previous owner of Firepower FP-10 lube. Very slick stuff. Grease on frame rails and oil on the slide.

Been using Slide Glide Lite (grease) on the rails and locking lugs for years, with an oil for the internals.  Its worked great on my 1911's and other unmentionable pistols.

I use both... a tiny bit of lithium grease on the rails and a light coat of Weapon Shield on the locking lugs, area where the bushing/slide contacts the barrel, etc..

I was an oil man for years.  A few weeks back somebody talked me into trying out the latest greatest grease on my side rails.  My boy knocked my 1911 of my tail gate into the sand on saturday at the range.  No big deal as my 1911 has been in the sand many many times.  With the grease on the rails, the gun became completely unusable.  The whole think just locked up after a few shots.  Grease was not glopped on.  Just a light dab.

I will never use grease on my carry gun again.   EVER

Mobil-1 (or any fully synthetic) - does not gum up or dry up. I threw all the other snake oils away.
