Sorta.. Always been around them, never owned one.

Story: Went in my local gun store a few days ago and spied a Para P14 w/a bunch of Wilson's shit on it... Debated buying it, I've wanted a Springfield for a while, but this was a really good deal (600$ 5 Mags - they were asking 850$) I know the guys that work there pretty well, so it was going to be a decent hook up.

ONLY thing I don't really like about the gun.. its a p14 high cap. I talked myself into it b/c this is strictly going to be a target pistol for me. I don't need it for CCW or anything else. Fun gun only, so.. I bought it. I would've preferred a single stack, but w/e - didn't work out that way.

Couple of questions.

1.) Does ANYONE make decent grips for double stack 1911's
2.) IF I wanted to convert it to a single stack w/a decent frame the slide and everything else is the same for the most part. Correct?

Any opinions on a double stack 1911 for the purpose in which I bought it? Sport shooting.

My experiance with PO is minimal. However their owners either seem to love them or hate them.

The top end of your para can be fitted to a single stack frame.

IMHO, Para's to me don't qualify as being a real 1911.  It's a bastard child.

A 1911 is single stack, single action, period.

Anything else is something else and I do not want.

Get a real one.

well.. i do have this one ;)

The Para is a SA... that LDA gun they have can rot.

My main reason for buying the double stack PO was the price & the area of use.

I'm just going to keep my eye out in the EE and on Gunbroker for a real 1911 of my choosing.

This one will be fun for now.

I agree Single stack / Single action Especially the single
stack because that's what gives it such a great grip.
My hand is smaller so I hate a chubby grip.
