Went to the range today and brought my old warhorse, my Para P12 (officers-sized 1911).  I hadn't shot it in a while and didn't realize my wrist was still messed up from shooting a few too many rounds out of my 500 S&W magnum.  I had at least 7 or 8 FTE's in about 75 rounds fired.  Each time, the extractor simply did not grab the empty case, and the gun jammed.  Got to practice some good drills, though.

The muzzle was flipping up quite a bit due to the pain in my wrist - could this have caused it, or do I need to replace my extractor?  It looks ok, but this gun has at least 5000 rounds through it (probably closer to 10K), and I've had it since I got it new in 1996.

Here's a closeup - haven't cleaned it yet....Thoughts?

Thanks!

I'm no expert by any means but with the Para "power extractor" or whatever they call it, I'd guess your wrist might be in play.

My wife has had CTS in her shooting wrist/arm years ago.

From time to time it still bothers her...

Please let us know how it works out for you.

Best of luck.

If the extractor didn't grab the case , take down and clean the slide, inspect the extractor and spring if it has one. I have a para lower but with a colt upper and I am not familiar with paras extractors.

Your wrist is to blame. The "new" Para extractor was not in use in 1996.  If you think your wrist is not to blame and you never pulled the extractor, now might be the time to pull the extractor and clean the hole in the slide. Lots of crap gets blown in there.
