Gents,
I'm thinking about adding an STI Trojan to the stable. However, I haven't heard much about them - it looks and feels well built. Seeking feedback either positive or negative...price seems good for a modern day 1911 - $920.00. Thanks! Sakic #19 |

We use them in USPSA and IDPA all the time, pretty much the standard in limited and open division. They also have one hell of a customer service policy so I think you'll be in good hands adding the Trojan to the stable. |

I have a Trojan in 45, if I had it do do again I would go for the lawman. My trojan is great, but I would prefer the checkering and the low profile sights. That damn STI bomar copy keeps wearing holes in my shirts. Should have ordered it with Heinie's! When I ordered mine I never even thought about it. A friend of mine had one, and his wasn't that bad. Mine needs a meltdown in the worst way. Mine is just sharp all over. I did knowk some of the edge off of the rear sight with a dremel. It looks like hell, but it wont cut you anymore. |

Sakic #19 FYI - there is a used Trojan in 9mm for $750 at Green Mountain Guns in Lakewood, at least there was yesterday. It looked like it was in good shape. I'm clueless as what what those are worth so hopefully someone else can help out. |

If you go to Brazos Custom or Dawson Precision a new one runs $921-922.00. |

My wife's Trojan is nicely beveled. There are several fixed sights which will replace an adjustible Bomar pattern rear. |
| Not only do the folks at STI stand behind their products but they're also pretty darned good about supporting their customer base. Many gun companies only post ads in gun magazines, etc. but STI does way more. They've got some excellent programs like the contingency awards program and they donate a bunch of guns and other merchandise at local and major matches. I've met Dave and Don on a couple of occasions and they're both friendly guys and are great to deal with. |

I pretty sure the only cast frame STI uses is on the Spartan. Rest are forged. If I'm wrong please be kind in correcting me. Price to similar price I would take a STI over a Kimber any day of the week., twice on Sundays. STI's are great guns that are very well made. Even there bargain Trojan. Is leaps and bounds better than anything in it's price range. They have a excellent no BS warranty if you do get very unlucky. |

i've been wanting a STI, and just bought an Edge this past week.
I have owned quite a few Kimbers (still have my Tactical Ultra), Para's, RIA's and Springers (Still have my TRP, EMP & 9mm loaded), and the STI is the BEST 1911 that i own so far. i know that its not a fair comparison, in prices, but i'm now thinging of selling my 9mm loaded & Kimber to buy another STI. |
