I carry a Kimber Ultra Carry II in an MTAC and have noticed on several occasions that the safety keeps getting disengaged. I'm very comfortable carrying it but now have started noticing I keep checking the safety while I carry. Has anyone else encountered this or does anyone have any suggestions on correcting this situation short of trimming the leather on the holster. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I've swiped my safety a few times, usually by rolling around on the ground and my body rubs against it. I carry a Government Model in an Alessi PCH that I ordered without the slide guard, so the safety is exposed. I am not uncomfortable with a Condition Zero 1911.

I wouldn't worry about it. It still has the grip safety.

Might wanna read that again. I don't lose any sleep over a loaded, cocked and unlocked 1911. EXCEPT when reholstering. If it comes off in the holster, no worries.

IIRC Browning designed the gun without a thumb safety, and the ARMY mad him add one.

If you are that uncomfortable get a Milt Sparks holster. On mine the slide guard is moulded to keep the safety on.

You could possibly modify the holster so that it doesn't bump the safety off.

Combat Jack is correct about it not really being a safety issue while it's in the holster––grip safety is still there, triggerguard is covered.

If one is not comfortable with condition 1 carry as you posted, one might be well to consider something other than a 1911, as this is the ONLY way to carry one.

I switched from an extended safety to a GI thumb safety. No more problems.

Appreciate all the feedback...I actually adjusted the holster more and it seemed to help so far.

Threw the Kimber safety in the trash and installed a Wilson Low profile safety. No more drawing the gun and having the safety already off.

Does your holster have a sweat shield?  I like the sweat shield to keep the safety from poking into me and also to protect the safety from being moved while in the holster.  Also if you have an ambi safety it could be the side facing out that is catching and moving the safety off.

If the thumb safety is swiping off that easily, you might want to mod the safety.  Just add a very slight detent where the plunger contacts the front of the safety.
