Just came back from the range and had a problem with my V10 carry gun.
Failed to feed the second round with a ALL my mags. Two colt mags, 2 springfield mags and 2 wilsons, some 7rd and some 8. Started with open action, inserted mag and closed the slide. Would fire first round and fail to feed second. Shell appeared to be bullet down a little in the mag and slide would not return to battery. Tried loading one less round in the mags and that didn't help. Same thing. Only the second round and it was consistant! Would empty the reat of the mag no problem.
Anyone have any ideas?
I am not the original owner (got from brother in law). How is Springfield about repairs if you are not the original owner.
I really lke the smaller carry gun but not if it isn't 100%. Guess I'll be carrying the Champion till I can get this fixed.
Appeciate any help,
Thanks

Springfield honors their warranty for all owners of their guns.

I recommend calling them and having them fix it for you.

It will come back way better that you would expect.

The short 1911s are finicky and I would let Springfield fix it for you.

When was the last time you replaced recoil springs?  How many rounds on the current springs?

+100

Call them and they will send you, via e-mail, a postage-paid shipping label.  Then, they'll fix your gun and ship it back to you no charge.  Their customer care is impressive.

Springfield is good with customer service.

As has been said here, the tiny 1911s are typically nowhere near as reliable as the "real" ones. I'd have a tough time being confident while carrying one.

Thank you, I feel better this morning. Soumds like I'll be making a phone call to Springfield soon.
Haven't changed the spring, probable aroumd 800 rounds fired. They do have some time on them though. Do they need changed as they get older or only based on rounds fired?
I have heard the snall 1911's are not as reliable. Glad I have a "semi real Champion"  to use in the mean time.
I was attracted to the Ultra compact because I liked the size and even though the "plastic" guns work well, I just can't bring myself to get one.

Sent the V10 out today....I'll post back and let you all know how it turned out. So far, it was pretty painless. Called and told them the problem I was having, got home and had a shipping label in my E-mail. Boxed it up and it's on it's way. No cost to me, can't complain about that!

Well, it's 5 weeks later and the gun arrived today. They changed the recoil spring, new extractor, polished the feed ramp, reamed the barrel, mounted new front sight (point of impact was low also), reblued the slide and crowned the barrel. Sent a test target....1.7" at 25 yards. Not bad for an Ultra compact. Now I just need time to go shot it and see if she functions correctly!

That is impressive customer service to me.

Good luck. Post a range report when you can.
