I'm trying to fix a jammed 1911. The slide is completely locked back. There is no play or slide whatever possible in the slide, it's totally locked back. The slide release has been removed, as well as the recoil spring and recoil spring plug. I'm think that somehow it was put back together and the barrel link got swung around or something and jammed it. No idea, you have one?

Apply rubber or rawhide mallet to the rear of the slide, starting lightly and progressing to moderate force.  Something is probably broken, and sooner or later it will probably give.

If it doesn't, don't force it further, take it to a gunsmith or ship it back to the maker.

You may have a broken link, improperly installed recoil spring guide, or something may be wedged between the ejector and slide.  The barrel may also be interfering with the slide somehow.  The barrel should be loose to the touch.  If it feels solid, it's probably tied up with the slide somehow.

Can you get the slide stop back into the link?
