I'm planning a parts swap on my MC Operator, replacing the flat ILS mainspring housing with an arched Smith and Alexander lanyard loop one, and I'm curious as to the best way to finish that part so it matches the rest of the gun.

You don't say which color. I have a GI finished in OD green ArmoryKote. After I installed a beavertail, I touched up the bare area with OD green KG GunKote out of a cheap hobby airbrush kit. The new finish matches the original very well, though it is a bit shinier because I did not bead-blast the bare metal first. The color is very slightly more olive, but its barely noticable and could be attributable to the cure temperature in my oven being imperfect. Overall, I'm very happy with the result:

Sorry, should have specified all the backside parts (beavertail, hammer, MSH) are all glossy black.

Ask KG Gunkote what their closest match is. Forget asking Springfield - they did not even bother answering my email .

Anyone know exactly how good the Armory Kote is?  I picked up a Blackhawk CQC and the fit is a little tight and I'm worried about fouling up my operators finish.

Was that rear sight drop-in fit? Or did you have to expand the dovetail?

I added a Smith & Alexander mainspring housing with the lanyard loop.  I sprayed it with Dupli-Color DH 1602 High Heat Black with ceramic.  Its held up very well and is a very close match.  However I plan on have the frame changed from green to black.  I just do not like the green.
