Thinking about a STI Ranger II or a Trojan 5. I have a Kimber TLE but wanting another 1911 but a 9mm. I hear great things about STI. Anyone here have a STI and how do u like it?

Yes I've got a Trojan in 45.   I also have a Yost-Bonitz customized Colt 1991, and a Yost Bonitz customized Springfield GI.
Have also had Kimber series I, SIG, XD, and CZ.

The Trojan is great, it's perfectly reliable, with good mags once I put an AFTEC extractor in.  I use it in competition, but would carry one as well if it was set up for that.  Got mine for just over $1k.  It's got some good features, like tight machining. a flat top, ball cut slide, ramped stainless barrel, undecut trigger guard.   The frame is cast but that's OK, and I wish the front strap treatment was checkering, but that's expensive.  The finish is just blue, but I live in a dry region and all my bled guns hold up fine.  I can someday get a chrome or other finish.

I recommend buying from Brazo's Custom, or Dawson Precision, and getting them to do a trigger job on the factory hammer and sear.   It's cheap. but is as good as the expensive jobs.

Oh I put in a new slightly extended Nowlin mag catch, as well.

Got a STI Trojan in 9 from Brazos, very well made, to me superior to Kimber and she work flawless.
You cannot go wrong with a STI

You might regret the caliber choice, but you will never regret the STI.

If you go 9mm in a STI go for the High Cap model.

a base sti is low 900's for a trojan, a base kimber is mid 600's for a custom 11. from there is sky's the limit, sti's can cross 3k and kimbers can go just under 1700. at the end of the day its the shooter that will make the difference not the gun. i have shot many kimbers and a few sti (i have a les baer premier 2). maybe i am not a good  enough shot to notice the end results, that being said i can shoot off hand to 50 yards and hit 8-10 ring on official slow fire nra targets with all three.
