What is the best way to add a rail to a 1911?
Is there any cheap frames that have a rail pre-mounted?

I like Novak's rail the best.  I plan on picking one up for my Kimber.  It's the cheapest and best looking one in my opinion.  You can get a Foster Industries Recon frame for $145.

Dawson Precision Light rail - cheaper than the Novak, arguably better.  Only downside is that it you have to use Dawson adaptors, only available for Surefire Lights.  Dawson will install it for a tick over $100.
MarsArmament will bundle installation with the adaptor for $160

Otherwise, the Surefire addon light rail - effective, no permanent alteration.

I went with a caspian recon frame, it's not a bank breaker, but it's GTG.. at least nighthawk and wilson seem to think so!
