May I present the oldest 1911-A1 and newest 1911-A1 that I own. I call them, the "THEN and NOW" pair. http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l175/effinNewGuy/RemingtonRand1911034.jpg http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l175/effinNewGuy/1911thenandnow011.jpg http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l175/effinNewGuy/1911thenandnow003.jpg http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l175/effinNewGuy/1911thenandnow008.jpg http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l175/effinNewGuy/1911thenandnow013.jpg You've come a long way, baby! Thanks, JMB Nice, I'm assuming that NOW has a 6in. slide? I've never had the pleasure of shooting a 1911 with a 6in. Is there a noticeable difference in accuracy & recoil compared to a standard 5in.? |

LoL. Thanks for bringing out an old post of mine. Yes, the NOW 1911 has a 6 inch slide. The accuracy difference will not be because of the length of the barrel alone but in how good the fitting of that barrel, bushing and slide combination is. I read somewhere that there also will be a difference in velocity but I don't have the instruments to measure that. Recoil? I can't tell the difference. .45 caliber 1911s don't recoil much to begin with anyway. I can tell you for sure that that the difference in sight picture brought on by that extra length makes a difference to me. http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l175/effinNewGuy/longslidebluedoutside005.jpg?t=1231685804 Looks SO much better with those wood grips.
