What's the difference between the current SA Loaded and older SA Loaded pistols? What I see are different grips, no ambi safety, and no night sights. Seller states these were produced from 1985-1990; I can get it for $550.

The two older ones that I had didn't have anything about Brazil on them.

Some of the older ones had a blue finish.
I prefer the blueing over the parkerized.

If you can get used to the oddball frontstrap and dustcover dimensions, they are very, very good guns. In my opinion, a much better gun than the current Loadeds.

Wrong, No factory was producing a "loaded model" before the mid 90's when Kimber first started and Springfield quickly followed.

What else do you know about it? A friend of mine has this same pistol and I would like to be able to give him some info about it.

As I said , they were Springfield's answer to Kimber. The one's I've had experience w/were good, solid pistols.

as long as it runs and hasn't been messed with by a basement smith for 550 I would buy it.

I'm not sure but I would guess they changed sometime near the time they added the ILS to the mainspring housing.

Thanks for the info. The guiderod on my friends is removeable by a flat head screw
driver, is this factory for this model?

I wouldn't think so. If anything it should use a hex driver.

Yes they came factory with the slot, and they are crap. Dump it and buy a standard GI plug.

Late 90's to early 2000's more likely.

The seller is holding it for me until I get back home so I can check it out. At that price, I was wondering if it was too good to be true.
